Details

Marie, adopted and raised by a French regiment, is in love with Tonio, a peasant who once saved her life. The two wish to marry but are prevented, firstly by the rules of the military and then by those of polite society into which the Marquise, Marie's long lost aunt, has arranged for her to marry. Their perseverance and devotion to each other is justly rewarded when, after a startling confession their wedding wishes are granted. Sung in English in a completely new version by Jeff Clarke
