Details
A powerful naive agit propera by the king of rag time. Joplin's own forthright libretto and dramaturgy combine with lyrical melody in the strange story of a freed man's daughter who is determined to spread education and banish superstition in the black American population. This musical curiosity is as interesting for the arguments its disenfranchised author as it is for the simple power of its story. Performed in English without surtitles.
