A Thousand Miles of History archiveSet in the 1980's SAMO Is Dead appeared on buildings across lower Manhattan when teenage Jean-Michel Basquiat killed off his graffiti phenomenon and launched a fine art career. As Basquiat moved out of the streets and into the galleries of Soho, so did his new friend Keith Haring, having caught the art world's attention with his subway drawings. Together, they rapidly became international art superstars, and befriended the legendary Andy Warhol. The lives and work of all three artists became intertwined Supported by Arts Council England.
