American Buffalo archiveWon both the Drama Critics Circle Award for the best American play and the Obie Award, and is considered a contemporary classic. This play is the story of three men struggling in the pursuit of their distorted vision of the American Dream. At turns, both funny and vicious, it attacks the ethos of Big Business and the price it exacts on the human soul.

User Reviews

USER (03Jun15): Well, it may have had resonance when first performed in the 1970s but it left me cold. Couldn't fault the excellent and forceful performances by all three actors but I felt no empathy for the characters and the plot went nowhere. Only one for dedicated fans of Damien Lewis, I think, or lovers of period pieces?
