Child of the Forest is the new play by Anthony Melnikoff, whose first play Steinberg's Day of Atonement won first prize in an international playwriting competition and was shortlisted for the Art Council's eighth Mayer-Whitworth Award for New Writing. It was originally programmed for production by the Soho Theatre Company as part of a trilogy of Jewish plays, which also included Diane Samuels' Kindertransport and Carol Braverman's The Yiddish Trojan Women.
