Lone Flyer - The Last Flight of Amy Johnson archiveThe incredible flight of Amy Johnson. Everyone wants to escape at some time in their lives. Sometimes even from ourselves. Amy Johnson longed for release and escape. A heartbreaking love affair fuelled her incredible solo flight to Australia, and her constant search for new career highs led to her mysterious death over the Thames estuary at the start of World War II. Her body was never found. Taking Amy Johnson's life as a central theme, and vibrant with the music and events of the twenties and thirties, this play by Ade Morris looks at the eternal wanderlust in us all. Lone Flyer is part of The Watermill Theatre's autumn 2021 reopening season featuring shows with smaller cast sizes, reduced capacity inside the auditorium and socially distanced seating to enable you to get back to watching the very best live theatre.
