Lost Souls and Lunatics archiveAn authentic look at an extraordinary East End life. This is a semi-autobiographical work from author, photographer, poet, journalist and award winning playwright Johnnie Quarrell. Stories set against the East End bomb dumps, gangster life, Soho in the 60s and the "spiteful" 70s and the recall of a life not lived well. Lost Souls and Lunatics was written, in part, as a response to the massacre of 129 children in Peshwar. This and subsequent attacks on children released haunting memories of being bombed in London. And though painful, the author wanted to revisit the darker aspects of coming to manhood with war, poverty and prison as unlovely backdrops.
