Open Lab - Noughts and Crosses: Exploded/Blood & Bone/The Baby Act archiveAn eclectic mix of theatre by young local companies. Barbican Guildhall has worked with Rich Mix to offer four local young companies the opportunity to use one of the Barbican's theatres, The Pit, as their experimental home for a week and then move to Rich Mix to carry on their process. The successful companies were supported through mentoring, space and resources, to experiment and take risks. Proposals were accepted from artists who were aged between 14-25 and based (live or work) in one of the following eight boroughs: Barking, City of London, Hackney, Islington, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest. Noughts and Crosses: Exploded - In a world where racial tensions are high and power structures are rigid, is the answer acceptance or resistance? Blood & Bone - Part political satire, part pixar movie. Blood & Bone combines puppets, puns and poor taste to guarantee you'll soil yourself. The Baby Act - Britain. A near future. The UN's Global Population Act seeks to address a rapidly overpopulated planet. Short scenes from a darkly comic new play. Written by Oliver Bevan.
