A production based in part on Shakespeare's story and partly on other sources and versions, such as Bellini's opera. Told from Giulietta's viewpoint. An exquisitely costumed and ceaselessly inventive production that is at once surreal and beautiful, animated and dreamlike. Music from Bellini's opera I Capuleti ed i Montecchi accompanies the action, played out by actors and marionettes on a magic box stage riddled with trap doors that open and close on an unending procession of characters appearing and receding. Few words are used and it is the images and allusions that conjure up a world of commedia dell'arte.
