Slavers archivePast and present collide as the slave trade comes back to Hull. It's 2007 and there's big money to be made in human cargo. For a group of Hull school leavers there is the challenge of a new business start-up and the chance of living a fabulous lifestyle as slave traders - but is it ethical? What happens when some of them start 'going spiritual', get into politics and kick-start a global campaign against this 'vilest of trades'? Slavers is a back to the future story - part satire, part epic - that recreates the real-life story of the slave trade and its abolition, through the eyes of young people in Hull today. This powerful new piece from the writer of Northern Trawl has been specially commissioned for Hull Truck Youth Theatre as part of the Wilberforce 2007 celebrations.
