1942 - two titanic armies clash on the banks of the Volga. The soldiers talk of home, but know there's no retreat. The only option is victory, no matter what the cost...and the cheapest cost of all is human life. In the midst of the carnage a grotesque figure plays a haunting melody to the weary and frost-bitten soldiers. This is cold war.
