The setting is familiar. But frightening. A creaky old hotel in the Lake District. Charming. But also isolated. Dark. Deserted. Time to cue the storm. Lightning zig-zags. Thunderbolts rage. Enter the heroes - or are they? - a newly married couple, Robert and Olivia, anticipating a cosy evening of matrimonial bliss alone by the fi re in their new home. Not for long. Crashing onto the scene comes the villain - or is he? - a lost backpacker desperately seeking shelter. Followed by the cockney comic - or is he? - full of wise quips and pertinent profundities. What an assembly! But these characters - interesting, treacherous people - are not what they seem. And the supposedly conventional leads to the most unconventional and chilling conclusions.
