A domineering husband, three children, a senile lodger who keeps wandering off to find the Dublin bus, a permanently drunk father who sells rotten apples and dodgy Herring from his cart in Artillery Street to the unsuspecting public. Could life get any worse for Lilly Mc Laughlin? Yes! Disaster strikes, and she has to hand over the ten shillings it has taken her years to save for her wee Kay's confirmation dress to her wayward father in the hope that he will return with a profit. But what he returns with is an even bigger disaster.
