The Gospel of St Matthew archiveMatthew's account of the life of Jesus is shocking. His angry portrayal of the central character is movingly human and psychologically complex. His narrative has a dramatic sweep and his message a challenge which touches everyone. George Dillon's sixth solo show fulfils a 7-year aim to perform the earliest and most challenging of the Gospels. Adding live and recorded music and computer-generated visualisations to his celebrated vocal and physical performance style, the production will focus on the clash of old and new which is at the heart of the story and its relevance to the modern world. George Dillon has been widely acclaimed for a series of dark and striking roles, ranging from his controversial Tarantino/Kurosawa inspired Hamlet and a disturbingly lifelike Johnny Rotten to solo versions of stories by Poe, Dostoevsky and Steven Berkoff.
