This is the first great play by Schiller, regarded as Germany's Shakespeare. It tells the story of two brothers, a favoured and handsome son, and his ugly brother. The favoured son goes away to study, leaving the ugly son at home where he feeds his father lies about his brother, which in turn leads to the father disinheriting his favoured son.
