The Suppliants archiveThree sisters arrive at a Greek port one night, claiming to have fled from forced marriage in Libya. The Greek King now faces a choice: to allow the girls entry and bring on war from Libya or to send them back to face their aggressors. This short play by the original classical dramatist has challenged audiences for two and a half thousand years. Now, rendered into a beautiful translation by James Kerr, it is more relevant as ever.
