Details
Friedrich Durrenmatt's satirical and experimental black comedy deals with Claire Zachanassian's revenge against the money worshipping villagers of her native town, Gullen. Full of grotesque humour, the distressing love-story that unfolds has firm roots in folk lore and is given a light touch whilst dealing with serious issues such as hypocrisy, greed, inhumanity and man's ability to justify his actions - whatever they may be. The Gulleners pave their own way to murder! This ADC mainshow is part of Freshers' Week 2000 at the ADC Theatre, in which all roles, from producers and lighting technicians, to set designers and all the actors themselves, are assumed by new members of the University. This gives a superb opportunity for freshers to immediately get involved in Cambridge drama, and gives audiences a chance to see the best new talent around - to spot just who will be the stars of the future.
