CORONAVIRUS: currently, all theatres and related venues are closed. Shows are either being cancelled, postponed or rescheduled and we are trying to keep up with all the changes. There are currently few changes after May 2020 and many shows that were due for April have been pushed back towards the end of Autumn. Pantomimes are looking like a safe bet at the moment ;-)
Two naked Germans sit chatting in a bath in Bangkok. Stefan is a bigoted, callous writer; Martin, a former rent-boy looking for someone to make a bestseller from his damaged life. As the conversation weaves through genocide, movies, money-boys, celebrity, murder, drugs and the art of telling stories the audience becomes privy to an intense and steamy encounter that is simultaneously deceptive, funny and disturbing - and as deep and simple as theatre can be. Jon Haynes and David Woods takes an indirect look at some of the more distasteful parts of contemporary culture: the theft of story and cult of celebrity, the exploited and the industry that exploits them. At its core lies the insatiable appetite of the contemporary consumer for stories and the ends to which people will go to get them. Suitable for adults only. 70 mins no interval. Commissioned by barbicanbite08. Supported by Arts Council England. Running time: 60mins. Recommended age: 18+ Performers Jon Haynes, David Woods.
