The award winning Great Small Works was founded in 1995 by six artists who met through their associations with the world famous Bread and Puppet Theater. Based in the USA, they are at the forefront of reintroducing toy theatre to contemporary audiences. Short, Entertaining History of Toy Theater: Narrated by singing professor Dr. John Bell, accompanied by an orchestra of toy instruments. A Walk in the City: Designed and directed by Roberto Rossi, with texts inspired by Italo Calvino, an elaborate miniature fly system, and pre-cinema technology. Toy Theater of Terror As Usual: During the countdown to the 1990 Gulf War, members of Great Small Works began performing a paper theater serial drama using texts and images cut from the daily news. This episode examines drone warfare, WikiLeaks, and the BP oil spill, with texts from the New York Times, Hans Christian Anderson and Democracy Now.
