A graduate of London Contemporary Dance School, he has moved seamlessly from performing work to creating it, quickly finding himself in demand with dance companies at home and abroad. Winner of Matthew Bourne's New Adventures Choreography Award, James' choreography is dynamic, emotional, clever and utterly accessible. Inspired by Haruki Murakami's novel Norwegian Wood, James Cousins has created the double bill Without Stars and There We Have Been. Taking the themes of love, loss and friendship and adding his own unique quality, this is a rich and powerful evening of dance. In the space of a few years, James has become one of the leading choreographers of his generation.
