Heaven in a Hell of War
T1230513836
This gala performance stands as part of a range of events connected to the centenary of World War I and to the National Trust property, Sandham Memorial Chapel. Taking Stanley Spencer's visionary paintings, housed at the chapel, as inspiration Kennet School, Trinity School and Youth Drama at New Greenham Arts have created three unique dramatic responses to the themes of conflict, resurrection and humanity. These performances will also be accompanied by dance pieces in response to the art works from WISE (boys dance company) and Youth Dance at new Greenham Arts. Each creative piece is a unique response to this national trust property from the perspective of the young people you will see on stage. A fantastic way to see the Centenary of World War I in a new light. This performance is the result of a Corn Exchange project which forefronts the responses of young people to the Great War 100 years on. It enables each group to explore historical and artistic sources through drama, music and dance. The production is also supported by the Young Corn Exchange.
