They haven't spoken in ten years, but when a box of memories arrives on Martha's doorstep, she knows it's from her childhood friend, Reuben. Reuben reaches out from his recording studio, through the only language he knows: sound and the science of black holes. The gift he sends her sets the space between them spinning, as live sound design places Martha and Reuben on either side of a literal void on stage. Stepping into that void, they relive memories and rediscover their friendship in Martha and the Event Horizon.

Alter formed at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, makes friendly, subversive performance that incites dialogue among people of different ages, provoking action and reminding audiences - at any age - never to stop asking questions. Our debut production, Martha and the Event Horizon, invites audiences aged 8+ to reconsider friendship and what happens to people after they become memories.
