Written by Mrs Bach

A mystery surrounds some of JS Bach's seminal compositions. Did Bach actually write the Cello Suites, the Aria from the Goldberg Variations or Prelude No.1 from The Well-Tempered Clavier? The answer may be no. Evidence suggests that it could well have been Bach's second wife, Anna Magdalena, who created these compositions. The documentary "Written by Mrs Bach" broadcast by BBC Four in March 2015 explores this mystery, while celebrating the creative genius and loving partnership of this musical couple.
