Engineers' Blue archiveDuring the Second World War production at the once great Douglas Motorcycle factory in Kingswood was retooled and driven by the Allied war effort. The government pushed for female conscription to make up for the loss of manpower to the armed services, but too often women were far from welcome in factories. In Engineers' Blue three people's lives are thrown together in the summer of 1941 when Britain stood alone against the Nazi war machine. It was the country's finest hour, but also its darkest, as black marketeering and crime was rife in the blackouts.
