Details
NYJO is world famous as a glittering showcase for Britain's most gifted and talented young jazz musicians. Since NYJO was founded in 1965, by Bill Ashton, OBE, most of the current generation of top British jazz musicians have risen through its ranks, often becoming established jazz stars whilst still playing with the band. One of NYJO's aims is to share the talents of exciting young players with as wide a potential audience as possible. The 22-piece National Youth Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Mark Armstrong, is returning to the Kenton Theatre following four previous sell-out concerts. There is the usual Open Rehearsal in the afternoon, principally for school and college students.
