Company of the leading choreographer Shobana Jeyasingh. Inspired by the drive and hustle of youth and cities. More and more people are going to see dance every year, and our stage is the perfect place to come and see some of the country’s most acclaimed dance companies, right on your doorstep. This season we’ve handpicked the work of Shobana Jeyasingh, whose contribution to the arts in Britain saw her named Asian Woman of Achievement (2008). Bruise Blood (2009) brings together beatbox artist Shlomo and composer Glyn Perrin to remix Steve Reich’s seminal classic Come Out. The popular and critically acclaimed Faultline (2007) features the hauntingly beautiful voice of Indian soprano Patricia Rosario, and vividly portrays attitudes and tensions among British Asian youth.
