Written by Mrs Bach archiveA mystery surrounds some of JS Bach's seminal compositions. Did Bach actually write the Cello Suites, the Aria from the Goldberg Variations or Prelude No.1 from The Well-Tempered Clavier? The answer may be no. Evidence suggests that it could well have been Bach's second wife, Anna Magdalena, who created these compositions. The documentary "Written by Mrs Bach" broadcast by BBC Four in March 2015 explores this mystery, while celebrating the creative genius and loving partnership of this musical couple. Brandenburg Concerto No.2 in F, Cantata `Alles mit Gott und nichts ohn' ihn' BWV.1127, Canon a 4 perpetuus BWV.1073, Allegro (3rd movement) from Brandenburg Concerto No.3 in G, Prelude from Suite No.3 in C for solo cello BWV.1009, Sarabande from Suite No.3 in C for solo cello BWV.1009, Prelude from Prelude and Fugue in C BWV.846, Sonata No.1 in G minor for solo violin BWV.1001, Aria from Goldberg Variations, Vivace (1st movement) from Concerto in D minor for 2 violins BWV.1043, Largo, ma non tanto (2nd movement) from Concerto in D minor for 2 violins BWV.1043.
