Grimm's fairytale. The classic story of two children sent into the woods. Unable to find their way home, they find a cottage made of cake and candy. Here lives a wicked witch who locks Hansel in a cage and tries to fatten him up ready for her to eat. This Christmas, the Barbican Theatre is transformed for a promenade performance of the classic fairytale Hansel and Gretel by Catherine Wheels Theatre Company for children (8 years +) and families. In this enchanting production, audiences travel with Hansel and Gretel through a dense forest on their journey to the infamous ?sweetie house', where they meet an evil hungry witch. The production is a wonderfully spine-chilling adventure for children and adults. Hansel and Gretel is based on Home ? East Lothian, created in 2006 by Catherine Wheels' Artistic Director Gill Robertson for the National Theatre of Scotland's inaugural season.
