Continuing to support new work by theatre-makers from West Yorkshire and beyond FURNACE makes its third outing with an explosion of fresh and innovative work this autumn. Initiated last October FURNACE encourages artists to trial and test-out new projects in front of audiences. After being developed through FURNACE Unlimited Theatre's THE GIANT AND THE BEAR recently premiered as a full production at the Playhouse. As an ongoing development programme, FURNACE continues to support the work of theatre duo RashDash and playwright Alice Birch. This October FURNACE will also present a sharing of some of the performances being made during West Yorkshire Playhouse's new scheme SUMMER SUBLETS. Established as a pilot this summer, the Sublet has been created to give emerging artists and theatre companies the use of rehearsal space and producer support when the theatre is dark. In addition to the work in progress on offer, FURNACE invites artists and audiences to take part in sharings and idea generation sessions. Since originating FURNACE last autumn the Playhouse has joined forces with Slung Low, Unlimited Theatre, RashDash and curious directive to nurture projects that could go on to become fully-realised productions.
