The Contenders are four of the UK's best folk music artists who are hoping to win the Arts Foundation Fellowship in Folk Music 2011. They each perform before an audience that includes as judges the Mercury Prize-nominated Seth Lakeman, record and film producer Joe Boyd whose amazing career has included producing albums for Pink Floyd, Nick Drake, Sandy Denny and REM to name but a few, and 'first lady of folk' Shirley Collins whose influential recordings in the 1960s helped introduce many innovations into the English folk revival.
