Set in a Liverpool pub after closing time, the landlady, Daisy Mollee, is celebrating her daughter's 16th birthday when her estranged husband of 13 years walks back into her life. Contrasting with the emotion and confusion that this reappearance brings, are the beautifully evoked wartime memories by Daisy's Elderly and increasing confused mother.
