Ensemble 360 archiveEnsemble 360 was formed in 2005 to take up residency in South Yorkshire succeeding The Lindsays who were retiring as a quartet. The ensemble brings together musicians from across the globe to form one versatile ensemble of eleven musicians; five wind players, a pianist, double bassist and the Elisas String Quartet. Ensemble 360 brings together eleven musicians of international reputation, renowned not only for their world-class playing but also for the way in which they communicate their passion and enthusiasm for the music. The programme is full of energy and vivacity, starting with Poulenc’s highly animated and witty Sextet. Dvorak wrote his Quintet early in his life and his young and infectious spirit can be heard throughout. Brahms’ Hungarian Dances, usually heard for orchestra, are based on gypsy tunes and full of explosive energy. In contrast, Brahms’ Trio was written in the wake of his mother’s death.
