As a child Kevin Montgomery was bathed in music by Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley, his father being a close friend of Buddy's, penning some of his classics like 'Heartbeat' and his mother singing on tracks such as 'Suspicious Minds' and 'In The Ghetto'. Kevin spent much of his youth observing his father producing and writing. At 19 he moved to New York where he quickly gain his own regular night at Genghis Cohen where he was scouted by Larry Hamby from A&M Records to the show and subsequently got a record deal that very night. A raucous night of rock and country.
