Valhalla archiveLudwig has a bit of trouble with reality. Obsessed by a world of legendary heroes and magic swans, he's unfortunately also a Bavarian prince under pressure to find a bride, sharpish. James is in love with beauty (and his best friend) and just wants to get out of small-town Texas. But in 1940's America that isn't so easy... Two boys, a century apart, find that love and madness are sometimes the same thing. And in pursuit of their own visions, they discover that anything is possible if you have faith, hope... and impeccable taste in home décor. Based on the true events of the life of 'Mad' Ludwig of Bavaria, Paul Rudnick's bawdily funny romp through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries sweeps its audience along on a stream of brilliant one-liners, waspish wit and wonderful Wagnerian music. Humpbacked princesses, Texan redneck preachers, operatic splendour, crystal swans and a shotgun wedding await you... As camp as Carry On, as outrageously funny as Cooking With Elvis, as historically accurate as Blackadder, the Tron Theatre Company invites you to enter the glittering halls of Valhalla this summer.
