Clean archiveClean introduces the bizarre, obsessional world of Ann and Mag, two rather unconventional domestics trying to keep everything (their messy lives included) spotless, and wondering how far they have to go to feel really cleaned. Clean is inspired by the real life story of the Papin sisters who brutally murdered their mistress and her daughter, causing public outrage in 1930s France. The play imagines the fantasy world of the sisters, where murder, mischief and mayhem are all on the menu. Reworked and rewritten for the Edinburgh Festival, Clean is by turns haunting, hilarious and visually stunning, and examines the need to get out of messy and destructive relationships.
