Hunger - a trilogy archiveA man devotes his life to waiting for a message from the Emperor, knowing his dedication is futile..A fallen trapeze artist experiences memories and terraphobic visions during the final twenty seconds of her life..Hunger is served in three courses, a visual feast inspired by Franz Kafka. A vision of the perversions that gnaw at Kafka's solitary yet comic figures, Hunger lays bare a yearning they all have in common. The play was first performed as a site specific piece, at 'The Slaughterhouse', a Victorian Abattoir beneath London's Smithfield market. Thereafter it was performed at the Purcell Room on London's South Bank and at the Young Vic Studio, before being taken to Knox Theatre in Chicago, Theatre Workshop for the 1999 Edinburgh Festival. In October '99 the production toured the North of England.
