The American musician Robert Levin has become a living legend as both scholar and performer and his charismatic playing and fearless improvisation have ensured him a loyal and growing following. As a leading exponent of the fortepiano and an expert on the music of Haydn he is central to the Southbank’s celebrations commemorating the 200th anniversary of the composer’s death in 2009. In the first of his two chamber concerts he performs an all-Haydn programme.
