Shehnai Ensemble archiveMaster musician Shatish Prakash and his shehnai ensemble celebrate the life and work of the great Ustad Bismillah Khan. The shehnai, a reed instrument like the oboe, was traditionally used on ceremonial occasions such as welcoming the king back to his palace, and accompanies traditional Gujarati dances, particularly at wedding celebrations. Ustad Bismillah Khan developed its use as a solo classical instrument, and Satish Prakash and his ensemble give a powerful and melodic tribute to the master.
