Love, war and women's lib. Written in the 4th Century BC this is one of the greatest of anti-war plays, as well as a bawdy comedy. Lysistrata and the younger women of Athens hold a sex strike in an attempt to stop the 20 year Peloponnesian war whilst she also leads the older women on an assault of the Acropolis. Our Lysistrata (Liz to you) is one in a million. The original embodiment of girl power in a man’s world where women’s only weapon is sex. The women are all tired of playing widow to the war games, so Liz leads them into battle to win back their men - by staging a sexual siege! But who will surrender first? Will peace (and love) break out?
