John was named stand-up comedian of the year by the American comedy awards in 1999 and received a Gemini Award for his superb televised performance at Montreal. John got his big break when he was asked to tour with Frank Sinatra. He then became a regular guest on The Tonight Show and the View. Direct from this year's Edinburgh Festival and 18 sell out performances at last year's Just For Laughs festival in Montreal, a record. He recently took on the role of Edna Turnblad in the Broadway version of Hairspray, and also starred in the cult TV show Seinfeld.
