Ensemble Pro Victoria is quickly building a reputation as a young vocal ensemble possessing a "burnished luminosity". The ensemble will sing a programme of music for Christmas in the Marylebone Theatre's beautiful partner church of St Cyprian's Clarence Gate that sits next door. Built around one of Benjamin Britten's most loved and celebrated works, his Ceremony of Carols, this programme traces the great carol tradition central to our cultural expression of Christmas. Britten's 1942 masterpiece for upper voices and harp is complimented by works made famous by their appearance in Carols from King's, including recent 21st century commissions. This performance will also include the world premiere of a new work for voices and harp, by Ensemble Pro Victoria's composer-in-residence, Piers Kennedy.
