Lou Reed archiveLou Reed is one of the most prominent figures in rock 'n' roll history, as founder and frontman of The Velvet Underground, and as an enduring solo artist. New York's finest and one of the founding fathers of punk music, Lou Reed, comes to the Hall on Monday 30 June. Lou first came to prominence in the 1960s as the guitarist and principal singer-songwriter of The Velvet Underground. With Velvet Underground, Lou and his band broke of mould of underground music, re-fashioning it with their own style and panache. He later began a long and eclectic solo career in 1971, scoring his first solo hit with 'Walk on the Wild Side' followed by the classic 'Perfect Day'. Lou Reed website.
