Details
The BUTA festival of Azerbaijani Arts closes with this spectacular celebration of Azeri classical music, conducted by London-based Azerbaijani violinist and conductor Dmitry Sitkovetsky. Azerbaijan is a new country with ancient traditions and this concert offers a rare opportunity to experience the rich musical heritage of the `Land of Fire'. The native Azeri folk style is infused throughout the programme and most prominently in works by Fikret Amirov (1922 - 1984), renowned for blending East and West in a new genre called `symphonic mugham'. World-famous violinist Shlomo Mintz joins the RPO to perform Azer Rzayev's Violin Concerto.
