Details

Known primarily for his delicately painted still lifes, Morandi (1890-1964) has been admired for the simplicity and quietude of his work and for his obsession with a single genre. Giorgio Morandi: Silent Spaces examines Morandi's capacity to uncover extraordinary depths beneath the surface of his paintings. The themes will include colour, architectonics, series and intervals, the uncanny, and privacy. The exhibition will bring together over forty-five paintings and thirty works on paper, dating from his earliest metaphysical period in 1919, through to his last works made in the 1960s.
