Peggy Lee, Billie Holiday, Betty Carter and Abbey Lincoln weren't just great jazz vocalists - they were also songwriters, who contributed some great works to the canon. In Women's Words, Sisters Stories, vocalist Ineza and the Alex Webb Trio explore the repertoire penned by the great female songstresses - Billie's Don't Explain, Peggy's It's a Good Day, Abbey's Throw it Away and many more, including poet Fran Landesman's classic lyric Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most. And bringing it up to date are songs by Jazzmeia Horn, Cecile Mclorin Salvant and Rachelle Ferrell. Alex Webb is a pianist, arranger and songwriter with a long history of working with leading jazz vocalists; his songs have been recorded by Liane Carroll, China Moses, Jo Harrop, Allan Harris, Cherise, Ayanna Witter-Johnson and many others.Group/Band Alex Webb Trio.
