Edgar Allan Poe's Haunted Palace - T0542708932Cult musical trio The Tiger Lillies present the UK premiere of Edgar Allen Poe's Haunted Palace, a musical plunging into the dark and sinister world of the poet. Loosely based on Poe's stories and poems, equally inspired by his tumultuous and tragic life, this concert performance retains the author's own black sense of humour while navigating the inner paths of his soul. In a haunted palace, a young poet meets the devilish Raven, who supplies him with particularly black ink, which guarantees glory and honour. The poet writes frantically and soon runs out of ink. Desperate for more ink, he careens through the many corridors and halls of the palace. In each room, he finds a story, a poem, or a page of Poe's imagination, and everywhere there are dying maidens. The international creative team behind this darkly comic musical includes French-American director Paul Golub, American video designer Mark Holthusen and Swedish playwright Peder Bjurman. The theatrical score and all songs are new compositions by Martyn Jacques, lead singer of The Tiger Lillies.

Corrido de la Sangre - T0736638058The Day of the Dead. A Corrido singer and his band return from the realm of the dead to haunt their killer and tell us their dark story of intrigue, vengeance, murder and the mayhem of a romance gone bad. This new, full length show blends stunning visuals with original music from the Oliver Award-winning and Grammy nominated Godfathers of alternative cabaret The Tiger Lillies. Set in a small dusty town in the lands between Mexico and the US, the singer relays the tale of his rise and fall and the songs of life at the border, where mythical creatures from Aztec times still haunt the night. This is a realm where folklore and real-life merge, where you can meet a knight, an evil king, a damsel in distress and the Saint of the Sinners. Anything is possible. Just don't believe everything you hear...Presented byHOME.

Lulu: A Murder Ballad - T502167490Playwright Frank Wedekind worked obsessively on his Lulu plays, Earth Spirit (1895) and Pandora's Box (1904), which later inspired the G.W. Pabst film Pandora's Box (1929) and Berg's opera Lulu (1935). Lulu's unbridled sex appeal, her youth and her self-destructiveness combine to make her dangerous, unpredictable and tragic. In Lulu: a Murder Ballad, the Tiger Lillies' flamboyant live performance is enhanced by large-scale virtual sets that create an immersive and richly atmospheric environment. Across 20 songs and interludes, the ballad of Lulu unfolds as an uncompromising musical and visual melodrama. Sung in EnglishProducer Opera North. Producer West Yorkshire Playhouse. Operating within their own eccentric definitions, the Tiger Lillies are recognised as one of the foremost avant-garde bands in the world and the Godfathers of alternative cabaret. Lulu - A Murder Ballad - T055230009Duration: 1hr 40mins (inclu interval). The character of Lulu is one of the great creations of 20th Century fiction, and one of its most disturbing. Her unbridled sex appeal, her youth, and her self-destructiveness combine to make her dangerous, unpredictable and tragic. With the men (and the women) who circle her, Lulu's journey from street prostitute to the toast of Society and back again, is told as a hypnotic and kaleidoscopic dance of death. Journey with her from Berlin to Paris and finally to the dark London streets of Jack The Ripper. The band's flamboyant live performance is enhanced by large-scale virtual sets that create an immersive and richly atmospheric environment. Across the performance, the ballad of Lulu unfolds as an uncompromising musical and visual melodrama.Producer Opera North. Producer West Yorkshire Playhouse. Producer Warwick Arts Centre. The Rime of the Ancient Mariner - T367605791The Tiger Lillies' genre-defying brand of other-worldly vocals and unnerving performance style has carved them a unique niche in the cabaret and musical theatre scene. After a hit run of Hamlet at Southbank Centre in 2012, the cult creators of the award-winning Shockheaded Peter now stage another adaptation of a macabre classic. This visceral repackaging of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner takes Coleridge's tale of the sinister and supernatural and adds its own dash of music-hall panache and sometimes shocking perspective. The band's flamboyant live performance is enhanced by large-scale virtual sets designed by visual artist Mark Holthusen that create an immersive and highly atmospheric environment. Across 25 songs and interludes, the legend of the Ancient Mariner unfolds as uncompromising musical and visual melodrama. The performances at Southbank Centre follow the UK premiere at Brighton Festival on 23 May 2013 and the release of their The Rime of the Ancient Mariner album to accompany the show.
