Born in Tel Aviv, Uri Geller began his career working as a magician in the nightclubs of Israel. But it was his rise to prominence on television throughout the 1970s that put his name on the map. In fact, he spent much of the decade guesting almost non-stop on programmes around the world, where metal objects mysteriously bent and watches either stopped or were made to run faster without any apparent physical force being applied.
