Alegria - Cirque du Soleil archiveAlegria features an international cast of 56 performers and musicians from 13 countries. The 2 and half hour spectacle showcases acrobatics including the dramatically sensuous Synchro-Trapeze and the hi-energy Aerial High Bars where daring aerialists fly to catchers swinging more than 40 feet in the air. Imagine two agile performers who bring alive the Mongolian art of contortion and an artist manipulating flaming knives around his body in a rhythmic and dangerous Fire Knife Dance. The vibrancy of youth is alive in Fast Track, a display of synchronized choreography. In Russian Bars, artists fly through the air with somersaults, landing on bars perched on the sturdy shoulders of catchers. Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, this all-time classic has been reimagined for a new generation to fall in love with. It will whisk audiences away to a mystical world sprinkled with visual poetry and acrobatic extravagance. At the heart of a once-glorious kingdom that has lost its king, Alegría: In a New Light witnesses the power struggle at play between the old order and the youth in strive for hope and renewal.
