Simple Cypher will showcase the results of their Transmission residency, in which they plan to research the sounds that they make physically and the movements made on stage, working with a music producer to loop sounds live on stage. Simple Cypher combines two different artforms: hip-hop and circus. The company was founded by Kieran Warner and Christopher Thomas, graduates of the BA Honors Degree programme at the National Centre for Circus Arts. Both specialising in Cyr wheel, the two also share a passion for hip hop. Style, originality and unity are key fundamentals of hip hop culture and have had a profound influence on their development as circus performers. Having trained, created and performed together in both dance and circus it has been a natural development to begin to combine and evolve their love for the two together and create work.
