2001 sees Deirdre O¹Kane¹s first solo Edinburgh Festival Fringe show and features straight stand-up and introduces her new character, Crystal Hickey, Ireland¹s answer to Jane MacDonald!. Having been discovered by the renowned talent scout, George McPherson. Crystal Hickey, has performed on the premiere cruise ships of the world (The Caribbean Palace, The Pearl of India and Stena Sealink). She has won numerous awards for her extraordinary combination of singing and jokes and has been invited to take part in the Royal Variety Performance 2001. Before her star studded show-biz career Crystal ran a hugely successful hair and beauty salon for fifteen years. She trained at the National Academy of Hair and Beauty, graduating in 1978.
